Challenge
Before this project, residents of Wli and surrounding communities faced significant barriers to accessing quality primary healthcare. The Wli Central Health Center lacked essential patient infrastructure, forcing mothers and children attending child welfare clinics to wait outdoors in unsafe and uncomfortable conditions. This reduced attendance for newborn immunization, growth monitoring, and other preventive care services while placing additional strain on frontline healthcare workers. The core gap was inadequate healthcare infrastructure and limited resources to deliver dignified, community-centered care
My Role
Identified critical service delivery gaps through community engagement and consultations with health workers, local leaders, and key stakeholders.
Led stakeholder engagement efforts to build support for a sustainable intervention that addressed the facility’s most urgent infrastructure needs.
Coordinated the planning and implementation of a community-centered health outreach to expand access to preventive healthcare services.
More than 1,000 kg of clothing was distributed to vulnerable households, helping address social and economic factors that influence health and wellbeing.
Impact
A permanent patient waiting pavilion was constructed, creating a safer and more dignified environment for maternal and child healthcare services while strengthening the facility’s long-term capacity.
More than 400 residents received preventive health screenings, medical consultations, laboratory services, and treatment, improving access to essential healthcare.
Essential medical equipment and supplies enhanced the health center’s ability to deliver quality diagnostic and clinical services.
More than 1,000 kg of clothing was distributed to vulnerable households, helping address social and economic factors that influence health and wellbeing.
